Frank Almon Hayden Obituary

Naugatuck-Frank Almon Hayden, loving husband of Nancy (Smith) Hayden, passed away peacefully at the Lutheran Home of Southbury on Monday January 26, 2026.  He was 74 years old.

 

Born in Chicago, IL on January 2, 1952, he was the son of Suzanne (White) Hayden of Maine and the late John L. Hayden.  He graduated from the University of Maine and was a member of the fraternity Alpha Phi Omega.  Frank worked in retail for Woolworth’s and CVS, and also as an independent claims adjuster for many years.

 

While living in Maine, he was president of both the Northern Maine Adjusters Association and Hampden Kiwanis Club, and was a board member of Penobscot Area Housing.  After moving to Naugatuck, Frank was an active member of the Naugatuck Arts Commission, Naugatuck Community Choir, and a board member of the Naugatuck Historical Society.  He enjoyed model trains and traveling, especially trips to Maine and historical places.  He was an Eagle Scout and proud New England Patriots fan.

 

In addition to his wife Nancy of 51 years, he leaves his family to honor his memory, his daughter  Jennifer Runco and her husband Michael of Nobleboro, ME, his son Jeffrey Hayden and his wife Elizabeth of Bristol;  his grandchildren Elise and Andrew Hayden and Olivia Runco; his sister Mariella Curtis and her husband Gregory of Raymond, ME,  and many other relatives and close friends.

 

The Hayden family thank the staff at VITAS and the Lutheran Home for their care and concern during Frank’s illness.

 

Visitation will be held on Friday February 6, 2026 from 3-5:30 p.m. at the Naugatuck Valley Memorial/Fitzgerald Zembruski Funeral Home, 240 North Maine Street, Naugatuck.
