Naugatuck-- Gaetan Tanguay, 86, entered the gates of heaven Friday, January 1, 2021 at Saint Francis Hospital. He was the beloved husband of Marielle (Marquis) Tanguay for 65 years.
Gaetan was born on October 24, 1934, in Saint-Gedeon, Beauce, Canada, son of the late Cyrille and Marie-Laure (Mercier) Tanguay. He was a retired Carpenter that enjoyed hockey and the New York Yankees. The highlight of his later years was the time he spent with his grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
In addition to his wife Marielle, he is survived by his son, Renaud Tanguay and his wife Denise of Naugatuck; his two daughters, Lise Laprise (James Ouellette) of Terryville, and Diane Tanguay (Gary Dumschott) of Prospect; his grandchildren Emily & Kyle Dumschott, Renaud Jr., Staci McNeil, Traci Rager, and Sean Toth. He is also survived by two brothers Jean-Yves “Gene” Tanguay and Bertrand Tanguay; and four sisters Gaetane Rancourt, Gemma Mercier, Roselle Lachance, Francine Roy.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brother Nicol “Nick” Tanguay; and his sisters Jeannine Quirion, Gilberte Moreau, Dorothee Quirion and Huguette Marquis.
A private graveside service will be held at St. James Cemetery, Naugatuck at the convenience of the Family. The Naugatuck Valley Memorial/Fitzgerald-Zembruski Funeral Home, 240 North Main Street, Naugatuck, is assisting the family with arrangements.
