Germana A. (Alhinho) Rodrigues Obituary
Naugatuck – Germana (Alhinho) Rodrigues, beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 11, 2025, at the age of 95. She was the devoted wife of the late Jose Rodrigues and was surrounded by her loving family at the St. Mary’s Hospital VITAS Unit as she was called home.
Born in Portugal on October 5, 1929, Germana was the daughter of the late Eduardo and Maria Goncalves (Carvalho) Alhinho. In 1974, she and her family immigrated to the United States, settling in Naugatuck, where she built a life filled with faith, love, and devotion to her family. A devout Catholic, she was a dedicated parishioner of Our Lady of Fatima Church. She found joy in gardening, reading, and singing, but above all, she cherished time spent with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Germana leaves behind a legacy of love and family, including her sons, Jose J. Rodrigues and his wife Marlene, and Antonio Rodrigues and his wife Maria; her daughters, Maria J. DaSilva and her husband Pedro, and Fernanda Smith and her husband Bryce; her 11 grandchildren; her 13 great-grandchildren, with one more on the way; her sisters, Maria Candida Alhinho and Fernanda Alhinho Martins; her sister-in-law, Tina Dos Santos and her husband Francisco; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son, Jorge Rodrigues, and her brother, Antonio Goncalves Alhinho.
A special thank-you to Bela Lopes and Nita Boaventura for their unwavering friendship, love, and compassion, which meant so much to Germana and her family.
