Jean Kwasniewski Ravenscroft , 87, of Torrington, CT, passed away peacefully Sunday, July 19, 2020. She was born July 9, 1933 in Naugatuck, daughter of the late Anthony and Nellie Kwasniewski.
Jean resided in Naugatuck, CT for most of her life before moving to Southbury, CT, and later Torrington. She also enjoyed annual trips to homes in Florida for many years. After staying home to care for her family, Jean went to nursing school to become a nurse in a pediatric office. She was highly active in The Junior Women’s Club of Naugatuck as well.
Home decorating was a natural talent of Jean’s that she thoroughly enjoyed. She also loved gardening and landscaping around her homes. She had a knack for organization and had amazing attention to detail. Jean was known by her family for her amazing chopped salad, homemade ham and pickle, ice cream sundaes and sandwiches and loved being such an active part in their lives. Jean was a beloved grandma and “GG” to her great granddaughters. Jean was family oriented, enjoyed her home(s) and was loved and admired by those closest to her.
Jean was predeceased by her loving husband of 67 years, George. Jean leaves a daughter, Pamela Bessette; two sons, George Ravenscroft, Jr., and Chris Ravenscroft; her granddaughter, Lynne Cartwright, her husband Matt and her two great granddaughters; two grandsons, Morgan and Tristam Ravenscroft; a sister Barbara Farnsworth and her husband Carl; and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
Funeral arrangements were handled by the Naugatuck Valley Memorial/Fitzgerald Funeral Home, 240 North Main Street, Naugatuck. Burial was in St. James Cemetery in Naugatuck after a private graveside service.
