Seymour-John A. Recchia, Jr., age 75, husband of Evon (DeSantis) Recchia, passed away on Monday January 20, 2025 at Griffin Hospital surrounded by his family.

He was born in Waterbury, CT on March 31, 1949, son of the late John A. Recchia, Sr. and Mary A. (Kotcho) Recchia.  He was a longtime resident of Wolcott before moving to Seymour.  John was the owner of Liberty Heating Service and had also worked with many other oil companies throughout his career.  He was a proud veteran of the United States Army and served for 2 years in Vietnam.  He enjoyed woodworking, fishing, clamming, and spending time on his 35 foot Baha Cruiser boat on the open seas.  But most undeniably, John loved spending every moment of his time with his grandchildren, who were the center of his universe.

In addition to his loving wife Evon of 54 years, he leaves his family to cherish his memory, daughter Christine Docimo of Prospect; his two grandchildren Taylor Marie Docimo and Vincent Giovanni Docimo; his sister Mary Ann Vinca and her husband Amet of New Jersey; and two nephews.  John was predeceased by his sister Janet Gugliotti and his niece.

Visitation will be held on Friday January 24, 2025 from 5-7 p.m. at the Naugatuck Valley Memorial/Fitzgerald Zembruski Funeral Home, 240 North Main Street, Naugatuck.  A memorial service will begin at 6:30 p.m.  Members of the Naugatuck Veterans Council will meet at 6 p.m. at the funeral home.  To send an on-line condolence or share a memory, please visit www.naugatuckvalleymemorial.com
