Beacon Falls-John D. Heanue, age 79, husband of the late Joan S. (Rinko) Heanue, passed away at Waterbury Hospital.  He was 79 years old.

Born in Bridgeport on November 13, 1946, he was the son of the late John J. and Florence Heanue.  He had lived in Naugatuck since 2001 before recently moving to Beacon Falls, where he was involved in town politics for the Republican Town Committee in both towns.   John retired from Wonder Bread/Continental Baking where he worked for many years.  He proudly served his country during Vietnam in the Army/National Guard for the combat/engineering unit.  He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Ojeda Council 33 in Naugatuck.  John enjoyed music, listening to and collecting Motown/doo-wop records.  He was a longtime member of the Port S Yacht Club in Bridgeport. John, along with his son, coached his grandson in modified T-ball for the Aqua Sox in the North End Little League in Bridgeport.

He leaves his family to honor his memory, his son Martin M. Heanue and his wife Larissa of Oxford; his four loving grandchildren Zachary Heanue, Emma Ovchar, and Nicholas Heanue, and Everly Heanue; his daughter in law Christine Ghiozzi Heanue of New Jersey; and several other relatives and close friends including his niece Florence Barnes of Oxford.  John was predeceased by his son John J. Heanue.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday March 3, 2026 from 10-11 a.m. at the Naugatuck Valley Memorial/Fitzgerald Zembruski Funeral Home, 240 North Main Street, Naugatuck.  Members of the Naugatuck Veterans Council are asked to meet at 10:45 a.m.  A funeral service will begin at 11 a.m.  Burial with military honors will follow in St. James Cemetery.  To send an on line condolence or share a memory, please visit www.naugatuckvalleymemorial.com
