Naugatuck-  John Robert Swanson, 84, of Naugatuck, died Tuesday,  November 4th, 2025 at Waterbury Hospital. He was the beloved husband of Alyce (LaBaire) Swanson, his wife of 56 years.

 

John was born in Bridgeport, Ct.  August 28th, 1941, son  of the late Albert E. and Edith Rose (DiMaio) Swanson. He served proudly as a member of the United States Marine Corps from 1959 to 1963, stationed in Camp Lejeune before being honorably discharged. He and his family moved to Naugatuck in 1985.

 

John was a hardworking, kind man. He retired from the United States Postal Service after over 40 years. He was a member of  N.A.L.C. Union branch 19. He also worked as Superintendent of Nob Hill Condominiums in Bridgeport for over 20 years.

 

John enjoyed working on projects around the house, golfing and rooting for his favorite teams the New York Yankees, New York Giants, UCONN Girls Basketball and any team his grandchildren or great grandchildren were on.

 

In addition to his wife John leaves his daughters Jill Swanson of Naugatuck, Jennifer Ouellette of Plainville, and Dannielle LaBarre and her husband Brendan of Wallingford; seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his sister Edith “Bunny” Ferguson.

 

John will be missed by all who love him.

 

 Arrangements- A Mass of Christian Burial  will be held Friday November 14th, 2025 at 11:00 A.M. at St Vincent Ferrer Church, 1006 New Haven Road, Naugatuck with military honors to follow. Friends are asked to meet directly at church. After services family and friends are invited to Jessie Camille's Restaurant,  615 Church Street, Naugatuck for lunch. The Naugatuck Valley Memorial/ Fitzgerald Zembruski Funeral Home, 240 North Main Street, Naugatuck has been entrusted with arrangements. Contributions may be made to the Swanson family.
