Beacon Falls-Joseph Schumski, Jr., age 100, beloved husband of Jennie (Jasinski) Schumski, passed away peacefully at his home on Friday January 25, 2019.
Mr. Schumski was born in Seymour, CT on December 18, 1918, son of the late Joseph Schumski, Sr. and the late Mary (Kozlowski) Schumski. He was a longtime resident of Beacon Falls, and had retired from Homer D. Bronson Company after 33 years of service. He was a member of the Beacon Falls Congregational Church and the American Legion of Beacon Falls. Joe proudly served his country in the United States Army during WW II, stationed at Ascension Island. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, and was an avid Red Sox, NY Giants, and UCONN men’s and women’s basketball fan.
Besides his wife Jennie of 76 years, Mr. Schumski leaves his children, Joseph Schumski, III and his wife Patricia of Waterville, Ohio, and Judith Ann Radder of Cheshire; his three grandchildren, Nicole Salvatore of Prospect, CT, Jan Radder of Minneapolis, MN, and Joseph Schumski, IV of Luckey, Ohio; his seven great grandchildren, Arie Copley-Radder, Eiden Copley-Radder, Nico, Gia and Lucio Salvatore, Joseph Schumski, V, and Anna Belle Schumski. He also leaves his special niece Linda Jasinski, and many nieces and nephews, including Jackie Kuegler and Barbara Synos. Joe was predeceased by his sisters, Fannie, Bertha and Irene.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday January 30, 2019 from 5-7 p.m. at the Naugatuck Valley Memorial/Fitzgerald-Zembruski Funeral Home, 240 North Main Street, Naugatuck, followed by a service to begin at 7 p.m. Members of the Naugatuck Veterans Council will meet at 6:45 p.m. Burial will be in Pinesbridge Cemetery in the Spring.
