NAUGATUCK - Joseph A. Nagrabski, age 76, loving husband of Susan H. (Fusco) Nagrabski, passed away peacefully on Sunday, Aug. 20, 2023, at Yale-New Haven Hospital surrounded by his family after a long illness.
Joseph was born on Oct. 24, 1946, in Waterbury, Conn. He was the son of the late Joseph and Clara (Petroski) Nagrabski. Joseph graduated from Crosby High School in 1964. Post high school, he earned his Associate’s Degree in Business from Post University. After college, he took a job at Naugatuck Valley Savings and Loan, where he ended up working for more than 40 years before retiring as a vice president in 2012. Joseph was a longtime Naugatuck resident and a communicant of St. Francis of Assisi Church in Naugatuck.
Joseph loved the great outdoors and enjoyed spending time working in his garden, hunting and fishing. In addition to the outdoors, he enjoyed spending time with his family, friends and always made sure that he was able to attend sporting events for his children and grandchildren.
Besides Susan, whom he was married to for 50 years, he leaves two sons David J. Nagrabski of Bristol, Mark F. Nagrabski and his wife, Melissa, of Middlebury, and their two boys, Nathan and Nicholas Nagrabski, whom Joseph adored. He also leaves his sister, Carol A. Salvatore, and her husband, Charles, of Waterbury; his niece, Catherine Salvatore, and nephew, Michael Salvatore. Joseph also leaves behind his brother-in-law, Joseph Fusco, and sister-in-law, Deborah, of Cheshire, and several close friends whom he considered family. Joseph was predeceased by his son Eric Nagrabski.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday August 26, 2023 at 10 a.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 318 Church Street, Naugatuck. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Waterbury. Family and friends may call on Friday from 4-7 p.m. at the Naugatuck Valley Memorial/Fitzgerald Zembruski Funeral Home, 240 North Main Street, Naugatuck.
