Obituary

Naugatuck-Joseph D. Matthews, Sr., age 35, passed away at Waterbury Hospital on Saturday June 17, 2023.

 

Born in Bridgeport, CT on January 20, 1988, he was the son of Richard and Cynthia (Matthews) Kiley.  He was a graduate of Ansonia High School and a resident of Naugatuck for the past several years.  Joe loved all sports and was an avid fan of Ohio State football and the New York Jets.  He enjoyed attending all of his son’s games.  Joe was a proud veteran of the United States Army having served in Afghanistan.

 

 

In addition to his parents of Naugatuck, Joe is survived by his loving son Joseph Matthews, Jr., and his mother Jessica Rebeiro; his brothers Brendan Thomas Kiley and Steven Kyle Szabo; his sisters Megan Marie Daniels, Briana Lyn Toomey, and Sarah Elizabeth Szabo; two nieces and five nephews.

 

A memorial service will be held on Saturday July 1, 2023 at 11:30 a.m. at New Life Evangelical Church, 255 Jones Hill Road, West Haven.  To send an on-line condolence, please visit www.naugatuckvalleymemorial.com
