Karen A. (Somers) Wilson Obituary

Beacon Falls-Karen A. (Somers) Wilson, 77, a longtime resident of Beacon Falls, passed away on August 26, 2025 at St. Mary’s Hospital, surrounded by the love of her very dear friends and family. She was widow of Gregory “Greg” Wilson, who passed away in 1999.

She was born in Stevens Point, WI on May 4, 1948, daughter of the late Ray and Adelle (Jastromski) Somers. She attended St. Peter’s and St. Stephen’s Grade Schools and graduated from Maria High School (all girls) in 1966 and attended the local university for 2 years.

Karen moved to Morristown, NJ and married Greg Wilson on August 8, 1970.  They relocated to Beacon Falls, CT in 1971.  Together Karen and Greg owned and operated the homey and cozy Adrienne’s Kitchen for many  years.  During this time, many of their friends’ teenagers were employed year after year.  They created the reputation for making everyone feel welcome, whether you were old or new friends.  “You wanna be where everyone knows your name.”  Delicious breakfasts were cooked on the open griddle in front of their treasured customers.  Homemade soups, main entrees and baked goods were enjoyed by all.  Karen included Polish entrees in the menu, but their busiest day was always St. Patrick’s Day. Karen was known for her artistry and delicate craft of Quilling.  She was an avid Green Bay Packer and UCONN basketball fan and devoted member of St. Michael's Church.

Karen was the former Adminstrative Assistant for the First Selectman of Beacon Falls and Grants Coordinator for the town and served as Clerk for various commissions and committees.  She was well known for her talent in writing grants and proclamations for the town.

She leaves her sister Judy (John) Yauch and her brother Duke (Pam) Somers, both of Plover, WI.  Karen is also survived by too many nieces, nephews and cousins to name and many cherished friends in Beacon Falls.

Karen’s family would like to send a special thank you to friends John, Margie and Richard, Arlene, Carol, Nancy and St. Mary’s Hospital Xavier 3rd floor for their loving care and kindness.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Joy Jacob on Saturday September 6, 2025 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Michael’s Church, 25 Maple Avenue, Beacon Falls.  Friends may greet the family at the Church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the Mass.  Burial of her cremains will follow in St. James Cemetery, Naugatuck.  To send an on-line condolence or share a memory, please visit www.naugatuckvalleyememorial.com.  The Naugatuck Valley Memorial/Fitzgerald Zembruski Funeral Home, is assisting the family with arrangements.
