Naugatuck-Luis Alves Teixeira, age 86, beloved husband of Maria Delfina (Martins) Teixeira, passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday October 29, 2022 after a lengthy struggle with Alzheimer’s Disease.

 

 

Born in Portugal on April 14, 1936.  he was the son of Jose Albertino Alves Teixeira and Miquelina da Costa Rego.  Luis came to the United States and settled in Naugatuck with his family in 1971.  He retired from the Eastern Company after many years of service as a welder.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing and walking.  He was very proud and devoted to his family, and especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.

 

 

Besides his wife of 51 years, Maria Delfina, Luis leaves his loving daughters, Virgina “Gina” Teixeira and her husband Richard G. Qatato of Bethany, and Marcia Goncalves and her husband Antonio of Middlebury; his four grandchildren, Sara Benedite Goncalves, Kate Laura Goncalves, Benjamin Luis Goncalves, and Mary Delfina Qatato; his brother Fermino Teixeira of Naugatuck; and many beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins.  He was predeceased by his siblings, Francisco Alves Teixeira, Antonio Alves Teixeira, Maria das Dores (Alves Teixeira) Vilarinho, and Ir. Maria Albertina Alves Teixeira.

 

 

Family and friends may call on Thursday November 3, 2022 at from 5-7 p.m. at the Naugatuck Valley Memorial/Fitzgerald-Zembruski Funeral Home, 240 North Main Street, Naugatuck.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated  on Friday November 4, 2022 at 11:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Fatima Church, 2071 Baldwin Street, Waterbury.  Those attending the Mass are asked to please meet at the church at 11:15 a.m.  To send an on-line condolence, please visit www.naugatuckvalleymemorial.com.  In lieu of flowers, please send a tax deductible donation in honor of Luis A.
