Marguerite (Guilbeault) Girouard Obituary

Marguerite Cool Guilbeault Girouard, a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, passed away peacefully on January 22, 2026, at age 99, surrounded by her loving family.  Marguerite left behind a long legacy of love, family and kindness that touched everyone she met.

Born on July 13,1926 in Waterbury, Connecticut, she was the daughter of the late William and Flora Cool. Marguerite was predeceased by her younger brother Normand Cool, recently deceased by her sister Florence Coredeau,  her son, Walter Guilbeault, and her son-in-law, Michael Dolfinger.

Marguerite lived a remarkable life spanning nearly a century full of joy, music, and love. She was happiest with her dancing shoes on, sharing a ballroom floor with her beloved husband, or filling her home with the comforting aroma of her latest baking creations. A devoted woman of faith, she lifted spirits through her beautiful voice in the church choir and cherished the many friendships she cultivated throughout her life. Whether singing, dancing, or sharing a dessert, Marguerite lived every day with a vibrant passion for her family and friends.

Marguerite was first married to her childhood sweetheart, the late Roland Guilbeault, with whom she shared fifty-two wonderful years and raised five children. Her legacy lives on through her loving family: her son, Ronald Guilbeault, and his wife Carol; daughter-in-law, Roslyn Guilbeault; and her daughters, Debra Dolfinger, Susan Cefaretti and her husband Michael, and Linda Lamy and her husband William. She is also cherished by her thirteen grandchildren—Jennifer, Ronald II, Kellie, Sheila, Kristian, Sarah, Karl, Tara, Christopher, Michelle, William Jr., Lewis, and Peter—and 11 great-grandchildren. Additionally, Marguerite is survived by her sister-in-law, Audrey Cool, and many nieces and nephews.

After Roland’s passing in 1997, Marguerite was blessed to find love again with the late Maxime “Max” Girouard, to whom she was married for 13 years. Max’s spirited nature and love of athletics had a profound influence on Marguerite; together, they embraced life through dancing, competitive bowling, and spent countless cherished hours playing cards and bingo with friends.

Service for Marguerite to celebrate her remarkable 99 years of life will be at: St. Francis of Assisi Church on 318 Church Street, Naugatuck, Connecticut, Saturday, February 28, 2026, at 10:00 AM.
