Obituary
Naugatuck- Maria Fernanda (Antunes) Simoes, age 73, widow of Abilio Dos Santos Simoes, passed away peacefully on Thursday September 7, 2023 at her home surrounded by her loving family.
Maria was born in Freixianda, Portugal, on March 3, 1950, daughter of the late Alfredo and Palmira Antunes. She was a longtime resident of Naugatuck and a faithful parishioner of Our Lady of Fatima Church. She enjoyed gardening and spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Maria is survived by her family, son and daughter in law Daniel and Ann Simoes of Naugatuck; daughter and son in law Sylvie Simoes and Carlos Sousa of Milford; grandsons Mitchell Sousa, Gabriel Sousa and Eli Simoes; her brother Antonio Antunes of California; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother Americo Antunes.
Her funeral will be held on Wednesday September 13, 2023 at 10:30 a.m. from the Naugatuck Valley Memorial Fitzgerald Zembruski Funeral Home, 240 North Main Street, Naugatuck, to Our Lady of Fatima Church, 2071 Baldwin Street, Waterbury for Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow in St. James Cemetery, Naugatuck.
