Waterbury-Mary (Cappelletti) Mangini, age 94, widow of William G. Mangini, passed away peacefully at the Village at East Farms on Wednesday June 19, 2019.
Mrs. Mangini was born in Waterbury, CT on June 29, 1924, daughter of the late Louis and Amalia (Carpinelli) Cappelletti. She was a graduate of Waterbury Catholic High in 1942 where she was class Salutorian. She retired from Naugatuck Glass Company after 22 years of service. She was a longtime Naugatuck resident before moving to Middlebury in 1991. She was a devout Catholic her entire life, and was an active parishioner of St. John of the Cross Church, where she was a well know religious educator for over 40 years. Mary was a member of the Literacy Volunteers, Naugatuck Women’s Club, Christoforo Columbo Ladies Auxilliary, a volunteer at St. Mary’s Hospital, and a wonderful seamstress. She loved music and would always have the radio on.
She is survived by her two sons, William N. Mangini and his companion Kathy Curnan, and Frederick L. Mangini and his wife Donna; her two daughters, Rosemary Grella and her husband Jim, and Christine Baranoski and her husband George; her grandchildren, Christopher Grella and his wife Lisa, Nicole DeNote and her husband Greg, Amy Baranoski and her husband Ryan Hammond, and Michael and his wife Mary Ng, and Stephen Mangini; her great grandchildren, Nicholas and Lyla; and her sisters in law, Jean Cappelletti and Rosemarie Augelli. Mary was predeceased by her daughter Marie M. Murphy and her husband Joseph; her brother Louis Cappelletti; and several brothers and sisters in law.
The family wishes to thank the entire staff at the Village at East Farms and Seasons Hospice for the kind and compassionate care given to Mary during her stay, especially during her final days.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday June 24, 2019 at 9:30 a.m. at St. John of the Cross Church, 1263 West Street, Middlebury. Those attending are asked to please meet at the church at 9:15 a.m. Burial will follow in St. James Cemetery, Cross Street, Naugatuck. Calling hours will be held on Sunday from 4-6 p.m. at the Naugatuck Valley Memorial/Fitzgerald-Zembruski Funeral Home, 240 North Main Street, Naugatuck.
