Naugatuck-Paul Cyr, age 61, husband of Lidia (Kacprzynski) Cyr, passed away on Wednesday, December 26, 2018 at Yale New Haven Hospital.
Paul was born in Frenchville, Maine on September 23, 1957, son of the late Leonide and Albertine (Tardif) Cyr. He was a graduate of Sacred Heart University and a longtime resident of the Naugatuck Valley. He had worked as a manufacturing engineer at Sikorsky Aircraft for more than 36 years and was a proud veteran of the United States Navy. Paul was a member of St. Vincent Ferrer Church and sang in the church choir. He was a true jack of all trades and was a talented musician, artist and craftsman. He was also an avid golfer, and builder and collector of model trains. Above all, he enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Besides his loving wife Lidia of 36 years, he leaves his daughters, Kristen Turkosz and her husband James of Woodbridge, and Lauren Merriam and her husband William of Cheshire; his grandchildren, Calvin and Vincent Turkosz, and Ross, Harrison, and Carolyn Merriam; several siblings, including Jeannette Sebastian and Rachel St. Onge; several brothers and sisters in law; and several nieces and nephews.
His funeral will be held on Thursday, January 3, 2019 at 9 a.m. from the Naugatuck Valley Memorial/Fitzgerald-Zembruski Funeral Home, 240 North Main Street, Naugatuck, to St. Vincent Ferrer Church, 1006 New Haven Road, Naugatuck, for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Burial with military honors will follow in St. James Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home. Members of the Naugatuck Veterans Council will meet at 6 p.m. on Wednesday.
