Pedro Colon Obituary
Naugatuck – Pedro Colón, husband of the late Luz Maria (Arroyo) Colón, graduated peacefully to heaven on Monday, December 8, 2025, at Waterbury Hospital. He was 91 years old.
Born on March 2, 1934, in Arecibo, Puerto Rico, Pedro was the beloved son of the late Ernesto and Antolina (Rodriguez) Colón. He lived a long and full life—quiet, humble, and gentle in spirit, yet never weak. Those who knew him understood that behind his meekness was a steady strength, a man who could be both soft-spoken and steadfast when it mattered.
Pedro enjoyed simple pleasures: gardening, tending to his plants, family gatherings, and especially playing dominoes, where he earned the affectionate title of “Domino King.” He was a man of faith, guided by a deep devotion to God that shaped every season of his life. His presence—quiet, sturdy, and unwavering—was an anchor for his family.
He leaves behind a legacy of love and gratitude in the hearts of his daughters, Denise Solano, Esmaelen Mercado-Colon, and Vicky Solano-Adorno; his surviving grandchildren: David Solano Jr, Denise “Nisi” Solano, Delila Valverde, Christina Solano, Linette Solano, Sonia Vilar, Amy Neal, Pedro Santos, Pablo Figueroa Jr., Wilfredo “Freddy” Mercado III, Marie Mercado, Jeremy Mercado, Destinee Martinez, & Kylee Velez and many great, great-great-great, grandchildren; his surviving brothers and sisters; Maria Soto, Hipolito “Polo” Colon, Zenny Plaza, and Tony Colon , his surviving god-daughter: Carmen “Lily” Valle as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Pedro was predeceased by his three sons, Jose Solano, David Solano & Raphael Solano, grandchildren: Izzy Solano, Angie Solano & Jessica Solano, and his sister Trijidia Dones. His family takes comfort in knowing he has now been reunited with them.
Pedro was a man who found joy in serving and loving his family. He lived with dignity, dressed with care and pride, and carried himself with the quiet confidence of a man who knew who he was and whom he belonged to. Though his absence leaves a profound ache, there is peace knowing he is free from any earthly limitations—no longer in pain, but walking the streets of gold, whole and restored.
His family rests in the comfort that Pedro was welcomed into heaven with the words he so faithfully lived for: “Well done, thy good and faithful servant.”
