Waterbury- Ralph John DiMasso, 85, of Waterbury, died peacefully Friday, October 21st, 2022 at Connecticut Hospice in Branford after a brief illness. He was the widower of Elizabeth “Betty Jane” (Moore) DiMasso.
Ralph was born in Waterbury May 14th, 1937, son of the late Pietro P. and Elvira (Mattera) DiMasso. He was a graduate of Leavenworth High School. He worked as a machinist at John DeLuca then at Pratt and Whitney as a tool and die maker until his retirement. He was a veteran of the United States Navy, serving from 1954 to 1957.
Ralph was an active parishioner of St. Francis Xavier, serving as a Eucharistic minister, as a member of the Holy Name Society and the Home and School Association. He was also very active in the Parish Minstrel and passed the basket every week in church. He enjoyed fishing and bowling, but mostly loved being with his family and telling his stories.
Ralph is survived by his daughters Maria DiMasso of Waterbury; Jane Pinho and her fiance Paul Murray of East Haven; son David DiMasso and his wife Laura of Waterbury; daughter in law Patricia DiMasso of Waterbury; sister in law Rosemary O’Malley of Danbury; brother in law Michael Marzano of Naugatuck; seven grandchildren , five great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews; he was predeceased by his son John DiMasso, sisters Virginia and Maria DiMasso, brothers and sisters in law Juliann and James Murphy, Maureen Marzano, Edward O’Malley, James “Buddy” Dowling, and Kate Dowling; daughter in law Karin DiMasso and son in law George Pinho.
Arrangements: Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, October 31st, 2022 at 10:00 A.M. at St. Francis Xavier Church, Waterbury. Family and friends are asked to meet directly at church. Burial with military honors will follow in Old Calvary Cemetery, Waterbury. Calling hours will be held Sunday October 30th from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. at Naugatuck Valley Memorial/Fitzgerald Zembruski Funeral Home 240 North Main Street, Naugatuck Ct. 06770.
