Naugatuck-Samuel Sanchez, Sr., age 76, loving husband of Carmen (Alicea) Sanchez, passed away on Sunday June 19, 2022 at New Milford Hospital.
Born in Puerto Rico on October 31, 1945, he was the son of the late Dionisio and Trijidia (Colon) Sanchez. Samuel was a longtime resident of Naugatuck. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Ojeda Council #33 and the VFW Crusader Post 1946. He was a proud veteran of the United States Marines and received a Purple Heart for his service in Vietnam.
In addition to his wife, Sam is survived by his children, Maggie Sanchez of Naugatuck and son-in-law David Rosado, Priscilla Sanchez and her husband Michael of Norwalk, and Samuel Sanchez, II and his fiance Sue Allender of Bethel; his brother Junior Sanchez; his sister Lucy Killian; his five grandchildren; three uncles and two aunts; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday June 28, 2022 from 9-10:30 a.m. at the Naugatuck Valley Memorial/Fitzgerald-Zembruski Funeral Home, 240 North Main Street, Naugatuck followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at St. Vincent Ferrer Church, 1006 New Haven Road, Naugatuck. Burial with military honors will be in State Veterans Cemetery, Bow Lane, Middletown. Members of the Naugatuck Veterans Council will meet at 10 a.m. at the funeral home.
