Cheshire-Sarah Gruenwald, age 44, passed away on Saturday January 15, 2022 at St. Mary’s Hospital VITAS Innovative Care Unit after a long, courageous battle.

 Sarah was born in Waterbury, CT on May 14, 1977, the daughter of Janice (Nitowski) Donahue of Cheshire and the late Waldimar Gruenwald.  She loved cats, dolphins, butterflies, clam strips especially from Jimmies of Savin Rock, DD coffee, and the colors purple and black.

Besides her loving mother with whom she lived, Sarah leaves her son Salvatore Ippolito; her brother Erik Gruenwald; her niece Emily Gruenwald;  her fiancée  Angelo Ingala; and several aunts, uncles, cousins.

She is also predeceased by her step –father, Kevin Donahue; maternal grandparents Emily and  Jack Mrazik;  paternal grandparents Gustav and Nina Gruenwald;  her cousin Carolyn Buffy Brown, and her soulmate, her cat, Jaeger, who she believed helped her through her illness.

A celebration of Sarah’s life will be held on Sunday January 23, 2022 at 11 a.m. at Jesse Camilles Restaurant, 615 North Church Street in Naugatuck.  Please wear purple or black in honor of Sarah.
