Sheila A. Murphy, 62, of Naugatuck passed peacefully into eternal rest from natural causes on April 19, 2025 at Stamford Hospital after a brief illness.

A lifelong resident of Naugatuck, Sheila attended St. Francis of Assisi School, Naugatuck High School, and Southern Connecticut State University earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Education. She worked for decades as a special education teacher at City Hill Middle School for the Borough of Naugatuck.

She is survived by her brother Edward (Ted), defacto-sister Nancy Carlson, nephews Kyle Murphy, Timothy Murphy, and Dylan Carlson, nieces Michelle Murphy, Catherine Murphy, and Megan Carlson, and grand-nephews Jacob Brunelle, Caleb Brunelle, and Ava Gibbons. Sheila is predeceased by her parents, James H. Murphy Jr. and Juliann C. (Moore) Murphy, siblings Michael Richard Murphy and Thomas Patrick Murphy, and fiancéDaniel Allard.

Sheila leaves behind a legacy of indomitable spirit and resilience, generosity of time, knowledge, mentorship and inspiration to colleagues, coworkers and generations of students. Her work ethic and love of teaching were unwavering.

Sheila was a special and unique woman with an enormous capacity for love, laughter, inclusion, and empathy. A great fan of golf, the Giants, UCONN women's basketball and any sport her nephews and nieces were involved in at any given time. An inspiration to do many, she will be fondly remembered and dearly missed by all that knew her.
