Naugatuck-Stanley G. Janik, Jr., beloved husband of the late Susan (Kaminski) Janik, passed away peacefully at his home onJuly 10, 2026. 

Born in Bridgeport, CT on November 30, 1954, he was the only child of the late Stanley G. Janik, Sr. and Ethel (Nimeth) Janik.  He grew up in Ansonia, and was a longtime resident of Naugatuck. He graduated from Shelton High School, went on to attend Norwalk State Technical College, then received his B.S.in Electrical Engineering from the University of Connecticut, and his M.S. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Bridgeport. After graduation, he taught as an adjunct professor at the University of Bridgeport School of Engineering, andentered the defense/aerospace industry working at Avco Lycoming (later Textron Lycoming) as a developmental engineer performing computer model analysis of turbine engine controls in helicopters, which took him around the country forflight tests. 

After 17 enjoyable years at Lycoming, he then took a position with Silicon Valley Group in Wilton, designing lithography machines used for printing computer chips, which was eventually bought by Dutch lithography company ASML. He was extremely well-traveled thanks to his career, frequently visiting Europe, Asia, and South America. From 1984 to his retirement in 2021 from ASML, Stan had managed engineering teams in leading edge technology, whether developing turbine engines for jets or making the machines that print computer chips such as the one in your laptop. He is also credited asInventor on six U.S. and International patents. 

While he was attending UConn for his bachelor’s degree, he met a cute, tan, blonde girl named Susan Kaminski, who he would propose to on their first date and marry a year and a half later. They had one child, Jennifer. Throughout life he enjoyed vacations with his family at Niagara Falls, Mexico, San Diego, Walt Disney World, Gettysburg and Colonial Williamsburg, Atlantic City, Las Vegas, Phoenix, Myrtle Beach, the Grand Canyon, the Smoky Mountains, Nashville, Lake George, and the family’s favorite, Misquamicut, Rhode Island. He and Susan did nearly everything together, especially later in life. 

Stan had a “work hard, play hard” mentality. For as much work and work travel that took him away from his home and family, he did not squander those moments in between. Earlier in his life, in his spare time, you could find Stan golfing, playing racquetball, camping, or fishing. As the years went on, you would find him fishing on his Bayliner (“More Daze Off”) on Long Island Sound; tubing on the Housatonic River; vacationing at their condo in Myrtle Beach where he and his daughter wentparasailing and jetskiing; or cheering on the UConn Huskies at either the XL Center, or Rentschler Field after one of his legendary tailgates. When he was at home, he enjoyed working in the yard, swimming in the pool, having fun family cookouts, and working on his cars - from his red Mustang convertible in high school to his bright yellow Corvette that he loved showing off to his grandchildren, Stan loved cars of all kinds. 

He was also a lifelong dog lover, and had several dogs throughout his life, who were special members of the family and enjoyed boating with him. Significantly, later in life, he and Susan especially cherished being with their two grandchildren, and he enjoyed showering them at every chance he had with extravagant gifts, like tickets to the U.S. Women’s Soccer game and even a kitten.

Stanley is survived by his loving family, daughter Jennifer Das and son-in-law Proloy Das of Avon; his two precious grandchildren Indira and Oliver Das; many nieces, nephews, and cousins, including his closest cousin Irene Petruney of Beacon Falls; and his favorite collie Dakota.
