Naugatuck-Thelma Louise Akley, age 63, passed away unexpectedly at her home on Friday August 1, 2025.

Born in Derby, CT on February 14, 1962, she was the daughter of the late Newell and Lois (Knapp) Akley.  She was a longtime resident of Naugatuck and had worked at the Washing Machine Laundromat. Thelma enjoyed baking, puzzles, and spending time with her family.  She was an avid Yankee and Dallas Cowboy fan.

She leaves her family to honor her memory, sons Brian M. Fanton (Jesenia) of FL and Jason A. Fanton (Brittany) of Naugatuck; granddaughters Mackenzie Fanton and Jayda Michelena;  sisters Helen Catlin (Dave) of Oxford and Rachel Santini (William) of Derby; and several nieces and nephews.  Thelma was predeceased by her sisters Shirley Anderson, Doris Merritt, Barbara Merritt, and Donna Akley and her granddaughter Kaylynn Mariah Fanton.
