NAUGATUCK- Thomas Anthony Genovese, 75, of Naugatuck, died peacefully Tuesday, August 6th, 2024 at his home. He was the widower of Georgiana (Mezzo) Genovese.
Tom was born in Waterbury, Ct. January 28th, 1949, son of the late Anthony and Gloria (Donofrio) Genovese. He earned an Associate’s degree in Business Management from Post College in 1973. He was a veteran of the United States Navy. He started his own electrical business in 1987 which he ran successfully until 2011. He last worked as an estimator and project manager for Lupe Electric.
Tom had a rich history of leadership and community service. He was a scoutmaster for Troop 111 in Naugatuck and served as Charter President for the Naugatuck chapter of UNICO. He was a longtime member of the SYC Yacht Club in Groton, ascending the ranks to become Commodore, overseeing a club with 200 boat slips and 400 members. Tom was most passionate about spending time with his family, fishing, being on his boat during the summer, traveling to the Cayman Islands and dedicating himself to volunteer work at Ally G’s Everyday Angels Foundation.
Tom leaves his daughter Allyson Genovese of Southington; sons Jamie Genovese and Chad Genovese, both of Naugatuck; sister Doris Blasi of Waterbury; five grandchildren. Tom was predeceased by wife, Gigi Genovese.
ARRANGEMENTS- Calling hrs will be held Monday, August 12th from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. at Naugatuck Valley Memorial Fitzgerald-Zembruski Funeral Home, 240 North Main Street, Naugatuck. The Naugatuck Veterans Council will meet at 6:30 P.M.. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to Ally G’s Everyday Angels Foundation at www.allyg.org
A celebration of life will be held at a future date.
