Valerie (Szalkiewicz) Grzybowski

Wolcott-Valerie (Szalkiewicz) Grzybowski, age 89, widow of Henry S. Grzybowski, passed away peacefully at St. Mary’s Hospital VITAS Innovative Care unit on Thursday June 15, 2023.

Born in Bristol, CT on October 16, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Theordore and Sophie Szalkiewicz.  She was a longtime resident of Wolcott and spent her career working as a public health nurse.  Valerie worked for the City of Waterbury Health Department, Shelton Health Department, the State of Connecticut and most recently Chesprocott.  She was a member of various organizations in Bristol, including the Garden Club, Depression Glass Club, and Gem and Mineral Club.

Valerie is survived by her family; sons Thomas and his wife Theresa, Allen, Stephen and his wife Hydee, and Joseph and his wife Franca; her six grandchildren, Alexandra, Fay Valerie, Clarissa, Jordan, Nathanael and Alayna.  She was predeceased by her brother Theodore.

Her funeral will be held on Saturday June 24, 2023 at 10 a.m. from the Naugatuck Valley Memorial/Fitzgerald Zembruski Funeral Home, 240 North Main Street, Naugatuck, to St. Stanislaus Church, 510 West Street, Bristol for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:30 a.m.  Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery in Bristol.  Visitation will be held on Saturday from 9-10 a.m. at the funeral home.  To send an on-line condolence, please visit www.naugatuckvalleymemorial.com
