William Amodeo Obituary

Loving Husband, Father, Grandfather and Great Grandfather

Waterbury-William F. Amodeo, age 92, passed away peacefully on Friday February 26, 2021 at St. Mary’s Hospital with his family at his side.  He was the loving husband of Norma (Recor) Bridgett Amodeo for more than 38 years.

Born in Waterbury, CT on November 8 1928, he was the son of the late Pasquale “Patsy” and Caroline (DeSapio) Amodeo.  He proudly served in the United States Coast Guard as a radio operator during the Korean War.  Bill lived in Prospect for many years and was actively involved in the Cub Scouts when his son Billy was a member.  After moving to Waterbury, he continued working for the U.S. Postal Service for many years, retiring from the Wolcott branch as supervisor.

He was a jack of all trades so he started his own handyman business for a few years.  He loved to tell stories especially to his grandchildren who were the love of his life.  Family meant everything to him.  He was kind, generous and very loving to everyone.   Bill and Norma spent many years vacationing in Florida, Myrtle Beach, and saw most of New England.  His favorite pastime was the Sudoku puzzles and reading. His favorite sports were watching the New York Yankees and New York Giants.

In addition to his wife Norma of 38 years, he leaves his daughter Kathy Croce and her husband Raymond; step son Ronald Bridgett; step daughter Susan St. Amand and her husband David; his four grandchildren, Gina Derasmo, JonWilliam, Anthony (Tara), and Felicity Croce; one great grandchild Dominic Croce;  his six step grandchildren, Dr. Kevin (Kathryn) Croce, Michael, Lori, Katelyn Bridgett and Christina and Michael Goncalves; Richard (Mariana) and Sarah (Xenen) St. Amand, and eight step grandchildren; Theodore St. Amand, Keiana Marsi Jameson, and Aiden Organ, Carter and Grayson Goncalves, Cameron and Owen Croce.  He also leaves his brother Michael in CA and sister Rosemary (Harvey) Wiener of Watertown; and several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.   Bill was predeceased by his son William Amodeo, Jr; his brother James and sisters Nancy DeRita and Virginia Teta.
