Torrington-Albert J. Shurkis, age 97, formerly of Naugatuck, passed away on Wednesday March 30, 2016 at Litchfield Woods.
Mr. Shurkis was born in Ansonia, CT, son of the late Joseph and Mary (Dombrowskas) Shurkis. A longtime Naugatuck resident, he had worked at Pratt & Whitney for over 35 years as an engineering designer. Al was an avid fisherman, and a member of the Knights of Lithuania Council 135 in Ansonia. He was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church
Albert is survived by several nieces and nephews and was predeceased by his sisters; Mary Shurkis and Julia Butwill.
His funeral will be held on Saturday April 2, 2016 at 9:30a.m. from the Naugatuck Valley Memorial/Fitzgerald-Zembruski Funeral Home, 240 North Main Street, Naugatuck, to St. Mary’s Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10a.m. Burial will follow in St. James Cemetery.
