Obituary for Marie Swiencicki

Marie ( Rotatori) Swiencicki moved beyond us on June 19,2015.  Born to immigrants from Italy, Pietro and Carmella (Magnamo) Rotatori, Marie brought joy to her family and the patients she cared for over the past 83 years.  A lifelong resident of Naugatuck, Marie was very curious, amiable, read a lot, and once traveled alone to Spain to visit her son Mark.  She was also fearless and taught her sons how to negotiate effectively with bureaucrats, merchants, and officials. She jokingly called it using her "mafia tactics".  We owe many a discount to her.  Marie also gave her children a love of traveling, going to the ocean, camping, gardening, and cooking Italian food.

Marie found her perfect match in Tony, who she met at a Bristol Company party, and often reminded us of how he was the only man that was right for her.  The only time they were separate was when she traveled to Spain.

After the kids were all in high school, Marie began a career as a Home Health Aid and spent many years as a cherished member of the household for numerous distinguished clients.  Marie was ideal for this job because she had a strong service personality and would constantly offer help to anyone who needed it (including all of her family and friends).  She will be sorely missed by all of us.

Besides her devoted  husband Anthony of 58 years,   Marie is survived by her children, Lisa Pappas of Massachusetts, Mark Swiencicki of California, and Paul Swiencicki and his wife Shari Scruton of California; her three grandchildren, Winnie, Charlie and Domenic Swiencicki, all of California; her siblings, Richard Rotatori and his wife Sharon, and Anthony Rotatori and his wife Karen; and several nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by her parents and siblings, Peter Rotatori II and Joseph  Rotatori.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday June 27, 2015 at 10a.m. at St. Mary’s Church, 338 North Main Street, Naugatuck.  Those attending are asked to please meet at the church at 9:45a.m.  Burial will follow in St. James Cemetery, Cross Street, Naugatuck.  Calling hours will be held on Friday evening from 6-8p.m. at the Naugatuck Valley Memorial/Fitzgerald Zembruski Funeral Home, 240 North Main Street, Naugatuck.
