WATERBURY - Edward J. Bebrin, age 87, passed away peacefully on Monday October 6, 2014 at Aurora Health Care.  He was the loving husband of Elizabeth K. “Betty” Bebrin.

 

Mr. Bebrin was born in Waterbury, CT on June 4, 1927, son of Joseph and Mary (Kerner) Bebrin.  He was a lifelong resident of Waterbury and a graduate of Leavenworth High School, class of 1945.  He was a communicant of SS. Peter and Paul Church, a member of the AARP Mill Plain Chapter 1856, Healthy Hearts at Waterbury Hospital, Scovill Cost Office Golf League, Walking Club at the Brass Center Mall, and Knights of Lithuania where he attained 4th degree, and an avid UCONN and Red Sox fan.   Ed proudly served his country in the United States Army during WW II.

 

Edward was Lithuanian Mayor for the Day on February 5, 2013, and a member of the VFW Post 7330 in Oakville.  He was a very talented woodworker having built many lovely items for his home and great outdoor displays for his daughter’s home in Watertown.  Five mornings a week, he enjoyed spending quality time with his friends at the Brass Mill Mall solving the problems of the world

 

Mr. Bebrin is survived by his wife of 62 years; his children,  Marlene B. Warren and her husband John of Watertown, Edward J. Bebrin, Jr. and his wife Darla, and Christopher J. Bebrin and his wife Christina, all of San Diego, CA; his two grandchildren, Christopher McMahon of Bristol and Michael McMahon of Waterbury; three great-grandchildren, Cameron, Adrien and Nicholas McMahon; and his faithful dog Rozie  He was predeceased by his daughter Marilyn, and his two brothers, Robert and James Bebrin.

 

His funeral will be held on Friday October 10, 2014 at 9a.m. from the Naugatuck Valley Memorial/Fitzgerald-Zembruski Funeral Home, 240 North Main Street, Naugatuck, to SS. Peter and Paul Church, 67 Southmayd Road, Waterbury for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10a.m.  Burial with military honors will follow in Calvary Cemetery, East Main Street, Waterbury.  Calling hours will be held at the funeral home on Thursday evening from 4-7p.m.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Alzheimers Association, P.O.
